ROCKFORD – The Watertown-Mayer Royals baseball team upset the No. 1 team in Section 5AA last night in Rockford.
The Royals and Fire were tied at one after three innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Holy Family scored five runs to take a 6-1 lead, but the Royals answered back in a big way.
In the top of the fourth, the Royals batted around for six runs to take a 7-6 lead, and held on for the upset win. The Royals had just two hits in the game, both coming in their six-run inning.
The Royals now face No. 3 Rockford in the Section 5AA East Subsection Championship in Rockford at 7 p.m. tonight.
