WINSTED – In the world of high school sports, things are always changing. Looking into the future, there will be several changes coming to local conferences such as the MN River Conference, and the MN Christian Athletic Association, as well as a new conference being added called the Skyline Conference.
The first change that will take place is the addition of SW Christian to the MN River Conference. The Stars of SW Christian will be moving from the MCAA, making the MRC an even eight teams beginning in the 2018-2019 season.
With SW Christian joining the MRC, the Stars will have the fourth-largest enrollment behind Jordan, Tri-City United, and Belle Plaine.
Losing SW Christian isn’t the only change for the MCAA coming in the near future. There will also be a new conference formed that will begin in the 2019-2020 school year, and it will be called the Skyline Conference. The Skyline Conference will consist of Concordia Academy-Roseville, Maranatha Christian Academy, St. Croix Prep, New Life Academy, Trinity at River Ridge, Cristo Rey Jesuit, and Nova Classical Academy.
With four teams from the MCAA joining the newly formed Skyline Conference, the MCAA will be down to just seven teams.
