PREP ROUNDUP: Lakers, Crusaders snap losing streaks; Bulldogs win fifth straight

HOWARD LAKE – It’s been a long and tough season thus far for the Lakers. Coming in to the matchup, the Lakers were losers of eight-straight games, but this one was different. The Lakers used a dominating defensive performance to snap their losing streak and pick up a 59-39 win over the visiting Bulldogs Thursday night.

The Lakers held the Bulldogs to just 10 first-half points, and only allowed two made field goals in the first as well. Patience was key for the Lakers in the win as they took their time to get good looks as they shot over 50 percent from the field.

Senior Ivy Fesenmaier finished with a game-high 19 points, while Jana Hatrick added 12 points.

The Lakers are back in action Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Kimball.

PLYMOUTH – The Bulldogs picked up a true team win Thursday night. The Bulldogs had five players in double figures in their 63-50 win over West Lutheran.

Kayla Weinzierl led the way with 14 points, while Hope Feltmann added 13, and Madi Radtke had 12. Jenna Dolezal also was in double figures with 14, and Steph Lohse added 10 points.

The Bulldogs have won six-straight games as they head into a tough matchup with NYA Saturday, Jan. 21.

MAYER  – The Crusaders finally got into the win column for the first time since Dec. 28 with a 72-69 win over NYA in a Minnesota River Conference matchup. The Crusaders had a 12-point lead at the half, but the Raiders rallied back to make the Crusaders sweat out a win. The win snaps a four-game losing streak for the Crusaders.

Kobey Woolhouse got the Crusaders rolling early, knocking down six 3-pointers and finishing with 20 points in the first half. Woolhouse finished the game with xx points.

The Crusaders are back in action Saturday, Jan. 21 when they travel to Madelia.
